College Savings
To help make it easier for families to send their children to college, Kentucky has a higher education savings program and is about to add a guaranteed prepaid tuition program. Kentucky's Lottery also funds college scholarships for high school graduates.  For detailed information on each program, please click the links below:

Savings Plan Trust
In order to guarantee to keep college costs capped, Kentucky is preparing to launch the KAPT plan at the beginning of the 2001 school year.  Currently, 19 states have prepaid programs that allow parents and loved ones to lock in tomorrow’s tuition at today’s lower prices.

The Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust can help families save, in a planned way, for a child’s higher education. A Trust account can be opened for a beneficiary of any age; and the method, schedule, and amount of contributions are determined by the account owner. Earnings are exempt from state and federal taxes.  Deposits can be as little as $25 (or $15 if made through payroll deduction), and the Trust offers competitive savings rates. The younger the child is when participation begins, the better prepared the family will be to meet growing educational costs.

To request more information about opening a Trust account, call 1-877-KY TRUST (598-7878) or visit www.kentuckytrust.org.

Kentucky Lottery
